North Karimganj Congress Honors Retired Teachers on Independence Month Celebration
**August 24:** As part of the 76th anniversary of India's independence and the 77th Independence Day celebrations, the local Congress members in North Karimganj came together to honor two retired senior teachers. The Maizgram-Sutarkandi Zilla Parishad representative, Bajlul Haque Choudhury, led a month-long program during the Independence Month, aiming to foster social awareness, promote transparency, and enhance community relations.
On the 15th day of the program, Bajlul Haque Choudhury paid visits to two distinguished retired teachers, Maulana Nurul Islam Choudhury, a former teacher of Sutarkandi ME School, and Makhanlal Dey, a retired teacher of Lauteki LP School. Both teachers received a warm welcome from Congress members, who presented them with traditional Assamese retirement towels and gifts.
Expressing their gratitude, the veteran teachers acknowledged the continuous efforts of teachers in fostering peace and harmony within society, away from violence and hatred. Zilla Parishad Representative Bajlul Haque Choudhury emphasized that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping individuals' lives, yet their contributions often go unnoticed as they age. This initiative seeks to change that narrative, starting with these two senior retired teachers.
